Cereals purchased and used by industry and trade, crop year 2016/2017

During the crop year 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017: (change from previous crop year in brackets):

• Industry and traders purchased a total of 2.0 billion kilos (-2%) of cereals and 81 million kilos (+23%) of rape and turnip rape from farms.  
• The amounts purchased from farms included 734 million kilos (-1%) of barley, 575 million kilos (-9%) of wheat, 587 million kilos (+8%) of oats and 76 million kilos (-16%) of rye.
• A total of 1.4 billion kilos (-1%) of Finnish and imported cereals were used by relevant industries.    
• 606 million kilos (-5%) of cereals were used for animal feed production and 429 million kilos (+1%) for food production. 334 million kilos (+7%) were used for other industrial production.
