Milk and Milk Product Statistics, year 2019

• Milk production decreased to 2,305 million litres in 2019. Dairies received 2 262 million litres of milk
• In December 2019, milk producers numbered 5,783 - 470 less than in 2018.
• Organic milk production was 74 million litres and there were 142 organic milk producers.
• There were 259,000 dairy cows in December 2019, which is two per cent less than in December 2018. A dairy cow's average yield rose to 8,800 litres.

Production volumes of dairy products

Compared to the previous year, in year 2019:

• The production volumes of liquid dairy products fell by 4%
• Butter production rose by 2%
• Cheese production fell by 4%.
