Meat production 2022

A total of 403 million kilos of meat was produced last year, which is 2% less than the year before. Beef and pork production fell, while poultry meat production was almost unchanged.

  • Beef production fell by 2% to just over 84 million kilos. 256,500 cattle slaugtered in slaughterhouses.
  • Pork production was just over 170 million kilos, which is 3% less than in the previous year.  1.86 million pigs were slaughtered.
  • Poultry meat production was almost the same as in 2021, at around 147 million kilos. Broiler meat production fell slightly. Broiler slaughter volumes were slightly higher than in the previous year, but average carcass weight was lower. Turkey meat production increased by 3%.
  • Sheep meat production decreased slightly to 1.3 million kilos.
