In December 2022, a total of 5.8 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This removal volume was up 6% from the previous year and up 15% from the five-year December average. In January-December, 63.8 million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for use by the forest industries. This removal volume was down 3% from the previous year and same level than five-year average.

  • In December 2022, a total of 5.8 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This removal volume was up 6% from the previous year and up 15% from the five-year December average.
  • Sawlogs accounted for 2.7 million m³ and pulpwood for 3.1 million m³ of the industrial roundwood removal. Compared with the average in December in the previous five years, sawlog removals were 16% and pulpwood removals were 14% higher.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 4.7 million cubic metres.
  • The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1.1 million cubic metres.
  • Energywood removals totalled 525,000 cubic metres, of which delimbed stems and whole-trees made up 430,000 cubic metres.
  • In January-December, 63.8 million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for use by the forest industries. This removal volume was down 3% from the previous year and same level than five-year average. Compared with the average in the previous five years, sawlog removals were higher 8% and pulpwood removals 6% lower.
  • In January-December, 6.6 million cubic metres of energy wood were harvested.
