In January 2023, a total of 6.1 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This removal volume was up 3% from the five-year January average. Sawlog removals remained high.

  • In January 2023, a total of 6.1 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This removal volume was up 7% from the previous year and up 3% from the five-year January average.
  • Sawlog removals were 2.6 million and pulpwood removals 3.5 million cubic metres. Compared with the average in January in the previous five years, sawlog removals were 3% and pulpwood removals 3% higher.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 5.1 million cubic metres, up by 4% from the year before.
  • The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1.0 million cubic metres, up by 23% from the year before.
  • Energywood removals totalled 0,4 million cubic metres, of which delimbed stems and whole-trees was 70%.
