Cereals balance sheet, 2018 - 2019 (provisional) and 2017 - 2018 final figures

  • A total of 2.7 million tons of cereals were harvested in 2018
  • Approximately 1.7 million tons, i.e. about two thirds of the total, was used to feed livestock.
  • Approximately 435,000 tons was used for food production, with wheat accounting for more than half - Oats use for food (111,000 tons) was slightly more than rye (88,000 tons).
  • A total of 400,000 tons of cereals were exported and 68,000 tons imported. The biggest export was oats at approximately 300,000 tons.

The figures for the 1 July 2018–30 June 2019 crop year are still provisional at this time, and a final cereals balance sheet will be published in September 2020.  Read more.
