Cereals balance sheet, 2017 - 2018 (provisional) and 2016 - 2017 final figures

  • A total of 3.4 million tons of cereals were harvested in 2017, and three million tons of the harvest was used during the 1 July 2017–30 June 2018 crop year.
  • Approximately two million tons, i.e. about two thirds of the total, was used to feed livestock.
  • Approximately 430,000 tons was used for food, with wheat accounting for more than half - Oats use for food (94,000 tons) was slightly more than rye (90,000 tons).
  • A total of 500,000 tons of cereals were exported and 50,000 tons imported during the year. The biggest export was oats at approximately 332,000 tons.

The figures for the 1 July 2017–30 June 2018 crop year are still provisional at this time, and a final cereals balance sheet will be published in September 2019.   Read more
