Qvidja Kraft purchases Luke’s pending patents for the biomethane reactor – The development continues

The customer

Qvidja Kraft Ab is a wood and biogas company which develops renewable energy solutions both at farm level and at industrial-scale level. Luke sold the pending patents for the biomethane reactor it developed to Qvidja Kraft.

The need

Using biofuel decreases the need for the use of fossil fuels. A carbon-neutral fuel cycle is needed to mitigate climate change.

The solution

A methane bioreactor which produces energy as well as store solar and wind energy and water power. Moreover, the reactor can convert wood gas (synthesis gas) into very pure methane, which, after pressurization, is readily available for transportation fuel. The technology can also be used to recycle industrial carbon dioxide emissions to methane production. The first version of the bioreactor enriching the appropriate microbial population from Finnish mire.

The effectiveness

The method both stores renewable energy and produces biomethane with a high efficiency ratio. The new technology can help in achieving a carbon-neutral society. It is also in line with the European Union efforts to reduce the dependency on imported energy.
