Open Call: Support for climate change risk research across Europe
The IRISCC project, coordinated by the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) and funded by the EU, has opened its third open call for transnational access to state-of-the-art research infrastructures. This call offers researchers the opportunity to study the risks posed by climate change.
Researchers and innovators interested in IRISCC services can submit proposals until 26 April 2026. All applications will undergo internal eligibility and feasibility checks, followed by external scientific peer review. Approved projects can start utilising IRISCC transnational services on-site or remotely soon after approval, earliest start date in July 2026. You can also take a look at the constantly available IRISCC Virtual Services, for which application is not required.
The Third Open Call places particular emphasis on:
- Integrated Climate Change Risk approaches, addressing hazard, exposure, and vulnerability within a coherent project design.
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration with multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinary approaches clearly embedded in methodology and team composition.
- Utilisation of several IRISCC services, encouraging applicants to combine services from different research infrastructures (RIs).
- Integration of Virtual Access (VA) and Transnational Access (TA), linking experimental work with data analysis, modelling tools, or other digital services.
- Broader user engagement, including users from academia, industry, public authorities, and social sciences.
Projects will be evaluated not only on scientific excellence, but also on how effectively they integrate these elements into a coherent and impactful work plan.
Third Open Call for Transnational Access
