ALFAwetlands project went overseas – coordinator’s greetings from BIOGEOMON 2024

News 23.1.2024

ALFAwetlands project was presented at the 11th BIOGEOMON International Symposium on Ecosystem Behavior (https://biogeomon2024.lter.network/) in beautiful Puerto Rico (7.-11.1.). ALFAwetlands project presentation was part of the Wetland hydrology and biogeochemistry session led by Assistant Professor Melanie Vile (West Chester University, USA) and Professor Ülo Mander (Tartu University, Estonia). Professor Mander is a member of the ALFAwetlands project.

Approximately 200 participants attended, encompassing individuals ranging from students to researchers, including those affiliated with universities and research organizations. Participants were very interested in our project and looking forward to seeing more results.

The ultimate goal of ALFAwetlands is to improve the geospatial knowledge base of wetlands, to evaluate the pathways of wetland restoration that incorporate a co-creation process, and to provide information and indicators for sustainability to maximize climate change mitigation, biodiversity, and other benefits.
