Utilised Agricultural Area 2022 (provisional)

In 2022, a total of 2 268 000 hectares of agricultural land will be in use. Of this, 2 035 000 hectares were arable and 208 000 hectares were set aside. Other agricultural land in use amounted to just under 25 000 ha.

  • Caraway 16 500 ha (-9%)
  • Reed canary grass  3 000 ha (0%)
  • Grassland less than 5 years old  794 000 ha (-1%)

More crop areas by crop and crop group are available in the statistical database at national level and by ELY centres. For 2022, the European Union has granted a derogation to set aside land for cereal production. The preliminary data do not take into account the actual crops grown on set-aside under the derogation. These areas will be included in the final statistics.
