Utilised Agricultural Area 2019

In 2019, the total agricultural area was 2,273,800 hectares on a total of 46,600 farms listed in the register of agricultural and horticultural enterprises.

  • Both barley and oats area decrease by 2% to 455,100 hectares and 319,400 hectares, respectively. The cultivated area of wheat (206,400 hectares, +9%) and rye (38,300 hectares, +121%) increased.
  • The caraway area decrease to 24,100 hectares (-13%).
  • The broad bean area decreased by one-tenth to 17,700 hectares (-10%).
  • The turnip rape area decreased to 19,100 hectares (-38%), while remaining higher than the oilseed rape area (17,600 hectares, -36%).
  • The last time the feed grass area (786,200 hectares) was higher was in 1995. The area increased by 23,600 hectares (+3%) from the previous year.
  • The area of fallows decreased by 10% to 222,100 hectares.
  • The area of horticultural crops increased slightly to 15,900 hectares (+3%).
