Utilised Agricultural Area 2018, regional preliminary data

Arable areas in 2018 based on the situation on 17 July 2018.

In 2018, the most significant changes in the utilised agricultural area in Finland (2.3 million hectares);

• the cultivated area of cereals, 1,040,000 hectares, remains half of the entire area, but  decreased by 31,000 hectares;
• The sown area of barley, 463,000 hectares (+6%) increased while area of oats 325,000 ha and (-3%), wheat 190,000 hectares (-13%), and rye 17,000 hectares (-46%) decreased
• the area under caraway (27,000 ha) increased by 15%
• the area under turnip rape and oilseed rape (58,000 ha) decreased by 10%
