Utilised Agricultural Area 2018, preliminary data

Arable areas in 2018 based on the situation on 14 June 2018. The next adjustment to the preliminary information will be made based on more extensive data on 17 July.

In 2018, the most significant changes in the utilised agricultural area in Finland (2.3 million hectares);

• the cultivated area of cereals, 1,049,000 hectares, remains half of the entire area, but will decrease by 22,000 hectares;
• The sown area of barley, 469,000 hectares (+7%) increased while area of oats 325,000 ha and (-4%), wheat 192,000 hectares (-12%), and rye 17,000 hectares (-45%) decreased
• the area under caraway (27,000 ha) will increase by 15%
• the area under turnip rape and oilseed rape (59,000 ha) will decrease by 9%
