Utilised Agricultural Area 2017, regional preliminary data

Arable areas in 2017 based on the situation on 14 July 2017.

• In 2017, the most significant changes in the use of the arable area in Finland (2.3 million hectares);
• the cultivated area of cereals, 1,072,000 hectares, remained half of the entire area, but  decreased by 37,000 hectares;
• the area under oats, 338,000 hectares, increased by 2%, but area under barley (437,000 ha) decreased by 10% - while area under wheat remained almost stable (219,000 ha),
• the area under broad beans (22,000 ha) increased by 35%
• the area under turnip rape and oilseed rape (65,000 ha) increased by 5%
