Utilised Agricultural Area 2014, preliminary data

Arable areas in 2014 based on the situation on 27 May 2014. The next adjustment to the preliminary information will be made based on more extensive data on 26 June.

In 2014, the most significant changes in the use of the arable area in Finland (2.2 million hectares) will be that the grain cultivation area will grow by 30,000 hectares, the turnip rape area will decrease by 8,000 hectares and the fallow area will decrease by 14,000 hectares.

  • Totaling 1.2 million hectares, the grain cultivation area will grow by 2 per cent from 2013
  • At 535,000 hectares, the barley area will be the same as in 2013
  • At 275,000 hectares, the wheat area will be biggest in 50 years
  • At 45,000 hectares, the turnip rape and rape area will be lowest in 30 years
