Utilised Agricultural Area 2012

  •  In 2012 the cultivated area was 2,285,000 hectares. The largest changes in cultivated areas since 2011 were the growth of the grain cultivation area to 1,153, 000 hectares (+50,000 ha) and decrease of the turnip rape are to 53,000 hectares (–24,000 ha).
  • Of all cereal plants, the cultivation area of barley and oats increased, but winter wheat and rye decreased
  • The cultivation area of grass plants decreased slightly from the year before (-6,900 ha) to 660,000 hectares.
  • The reed canary grass area, 10,000 hectares, is approximately 30% smaller than in 2011.
  • The total area of fallow fields, nature management fields and green manure decreased by 8,400 hectares to 267,000 hectares.
