Statistics on cereals purchase and used by industry and trade, Q2 2013

During the crop year 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013:

  • Industry and cereal traders purchased nearly two billion kg of cereals from farms, 0.1 billion kg more than in the previous crop year. A combined volume of about 55 million kg of rape and turnip rape was purchased, 28 million kg less than in the previous crop year.
  • Industry used a total of 1.3 billion kg of Finnish and foreign cereals, almost the same amount as in the previous crop year. Of this total, 47% was used by the animal feed industry, 32% by the food industry and the remaining 21% by all other industry sectors.

At the end of June 2013:

  • Trade and industry stocks contained a combined total of nearly 490 million kg of cereals and a combined total of more than 9 million kg of rape and turnip rape. The total amount of cereals was about 90 million kg more than in the previous year, and the amount of rape and turnip rape was almost six million kg more.
