Cereals purchased, used and stockpiled, Q4 2022 and year 2022

During 2022, just under 1.6 billion kilograms of grain moved from farms to the market, of which organic accounted for about four percent. A total of just over 1.3 billion kilograms of grain was used by industry. Of this, 465 million kilograms were used for food, of which about 11 percent was organic. Approximately 580 million kilograms ended up as feed, of which the organic share was just under two percent.

In addition to grain, oil and protein crops were transferred from the farms to the market, including 27 million kilograms of canola and canola and the same amount of peas. The protein plants ended up mainly being used as fodder.

Grain stocks in 2022 were about a third larger than at the same time a year earlier, only rye stocks are lower than the previous year. About 7 percent of the grain in the warehouses was organic. The stocks of oil and protein crops were also clearly fuller than a year ago, with the exception of canola and canola.
