Cereals purchased, used and stockpiled, Q2 2021 and crop year 2020/2021

During the crop year 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021 (change from previous crop year  in brackets):

  • Industry and traders purchased a total of 1.9 billion kilos (-12 %) of cereals and 32 million kilos (-30 %) of rape and turnip rape from farms.
  • The amounts purchased from farms included 655 million kilos (-15%) of barley, 448 million kilos (-22 %) of wheat, 717 million kilos (+2%) of oats and 81 million kilos (-25%) of rye.
  • A total of 1.4 billion kilos (+1%) of Finnish and imported cereals were used by relevant industries.
  • 603 million kilos (+4%) of cereals were used for animal feed production and 449 million kilos (-1%) for food production. 337 million kilos (+3%) were used for other industrial production.

At the end of June 2021 :(change from June 2020 in brackets)

  • Trade and industry stocks contained a combined total of 430 million kilos (+17%) of cereals.
  • The cereals stocks contained 84 million kilos (-1%) of wheat, 63 million kilos (-21%) of rye, 81 million kilos (-20%) of barley and 202 million kilos (+101%) of oats.
