Number of cattle and pigs 1 December 2019

- The number of cattle at start of December was 840,740. The number of dairy cows was 258,940.
- The number of suckler cows increased, whereas that cows, heifers, bulls and calves decreased.
- There were 1.06 million pigs on farms at start of December, which is 2% more than a year ago.
- The number of sows decreased by 3% from previous year.
