Number of livestock in spring of 2019 (provisional)

• The number of cattle at start of May 2019 was 857,000, which is 3 percent less than a year ago.
• The number of dairy cow was 262,300. The number of dairy cows decreased by 3 percent during a year.
• The number of pigs went down from the previous year to about 1.07 million pigs (-2%).
• The poultry included altogether 13.6 million animals on 1,100 farms. There were 3.7 million laying hens and 8.5 million broilers.
• There were about 143.000 sheep on 1,300 farms.
