- The number of cattle at start of May was 846,400 which are one percent less than a year ago. The number of suckler cows and cattle under 1 year increased, whereas that cows, heifers and bulls decreased. There were about 9,300 cattle farms.
- The number of dairy cows was 259,600 which are one percent less than a year ago.
- The number of suckler cows at the start of May was about 62,000.
