Milk Production 2023

Milk production fell by just under 1% to 2 174 million litres last year. There were about 4 200 milk producers at the end of the year.

  • Milk production decreased to 2,174 million liters in 2023 (-1%). Dairies received 2 132 million liters of milk.
  • In December 2022, milk producers numbered 4,200  (-8% less than in 2022).
  • Organic milk production was just over 73 million litres, down 9% on the previous year. The number of organic milk producers fell by 20%, with the number of producers falling below 100.

Production volumes of dairy products

Compared to the previous year, in year 2023:

  • The production volumes of liquid dairy products fell by 2%
    • Milk -3%
    • Buttermilk -2%
    • Cream  0%
    • Sour cream products +2%
    • Curd milk – 4%
    • Yoghurt -1%
    • Other fresh products +11%
  • Butter production rose by 1%
  • Cheese production rose by 3%.
