Milk production in January-August was two per cent lower than a year ago. In August, production fell by 3% to 179 million litres. There were 4 700 milk producers in August. The number of milk producers has fallen by 7% over the year.

Production volumes of liquid dairy products, butter and cheese also fell between January and August.

Compared to previous year, in January-August 2022:

• Milk production:  - 2%
• Production of liquid dairy products: - 3%
• Butter production:  - 3%
• Cheese production:   - 3%
