Horticultural Statistics 2021

The data presented in the horticultural statistics for 2021 were corrected on 3 June 2022.

• In 2021, the total number of horticultural enterprises was 3,243.
• Outdoor cultivation area was 19,792 hectares and greenhouse area 375 hectares.
• In terms of cultivation area, the most important outdoor vegetables were garden pea (4,978 ha), carrot (1,726 ha) and onion (1,202 ha).
• The total harvest of outdoor vegetables amounted to 174 million kilos, of which 76 million kilos were carrots.
• Berry production was 20 million kilos, the most important was strawberry, 16 million kilos.
• The amount of greenhouse vegetables produced was 98 million kilos, of which 53 million kilos were cucumber and 38 million kilos were tomatoes. Special tomatoes produced 7,4 million kilos.
• The cultivation area of ornamental plants in greenhouses totalled 114.
• Correction made on 24 February 2022: the tomato production volume was 38 million kg (not 86 million kg).
