  • The grain harvest in 2011 – 3.7 billion kilograms – is 25% higher than in 2010.
  • The cultivation areas and yield per hectare of all grains increased from 2010. The production of barley and wheat increased the most. However, barley still remains the most extensively cultivated grain type in Finland.
  • The wheat harvest of more than 980 million kilograms is the largest ever in Finland.
  • The cultivation area of turnip rape decreased by 46% from the previous year and the total production of turnip rape decreased from about 159 kilograms to about 92 million kilograms. The cultivation area of turnip rape decreased by 10% but total production increased from about 20 million kilograms to about 26 million kilograms.
  • The potato harvest increased by 7%. The harvest is about 687 million kilograms.
  • The total sugar beet harvest increased by 17% from 2010 and is about 632 million kilograms.
  • The yield per hectare for horse bean increased by 25% and the total production increased to almost 21 million kilograms. The total pea production decreased slightly, totalling 12 million kilograms.
