Crop Production Statistics and the quality of the grain harvest 2010

  • The grain harvest, 3.0 million tonnes, was the lowest in the decade. From year 2009, the grain crops decreased 30%. The decrease of crops was mainly attributed to the decreased cultivation area for grains (-16%).

  • The 1.3 million tonnes decrease in the grain crops was mainly in barley (-830 000 tonnes) but the oats crop (-305 000 tonnes) and the wheat crop (-160 000 tonnes) decreased from 2009.

  • The rye crop was higher than  year 2009, and it increased to 68 000 tonnes (+64%).

  • The turnip rape crop increased 35% while the oilseed rape crop decreased 9%. The crop for turnip rape was almost 160 000 tonnes and for oilseed rape 20 000 tonnes.

  • The potato harvest (660 000 tonnes) was 13 % lower than in 2009.
