Published 1.2.2010

The anticipated crops for 2010 in Finland, 15 July:

  • The anticipated grain crops, 3.1 billion kilograms, would be the lowest in the decade. From last year, the grain crops will decrease no less than 28%. The decrease of crops is mainly attributable to the decreased cultivation area for grains (-16%).
  • The 1,200 million kilogram decrease in the grain crops is mainly in barley (-840 million kilograms) but the barley crop (-230 million kilograms) and the wheat crop (-180 million kilograms) will decrease from 2009.
  • The rye crop was small last year, and this year it will probably increase to 70 million kilograms (+67%).
  • The turnip rape crop will probably increase nearly 70% and the oilseed rape crop almost 20%. The current anticipated crop for turnip rape is almost 200 million kilograms and for oilseed rape 25 million kilograms.
