In March 2023, a total of 6.5 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This removal volume was down 3% from the previous year and 3% from the five-year March average. In January-March, 18.5 million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for use by the forest industries. This removal volume was up 1% from the previous year and down 1% from the five-year average.
- Sawlogs accounted for 2.7 million m³ and pulpwood for 3.9 million m³ of the industrial roundwood removal.
- Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 5.6 million cubic metres, down by 4% from the year before.
- The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1.0 million cubic metres, up by 2% from the year before.
- Energywood removals totalled 525,000 cubic metres, of which delimbed stems and whole-trees was 80%.
