In February 2023, a total of 5.8 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This removal volume was up 1% from the previous year and down 1% from the five-year February average. In January-February, 11.9 million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for use by the forest industries. This removal volume was up 4% from the previous year and up 1% from the five-year average.

  • Sawlogs accounted for 2.4 million m³ and pulpwood for 3.4 million m³ of the industrial roundwood removal.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 4.9 million cubic metres, down by 1% from the year before.
  • The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 0.9 million cubic metres, up by 10% from the year before.
  • Energywood removals totalled 855,000 cubic metres, of which delimbed stems and whole-trees was 82%.
