Commercial fellings 2025 (provisional)
According to preliminary data, a total of 60,1 million cubic metres of industrial roundwood was harvested in 2025. Harvesting decreased by two million cubic metres, or three percent, compared with the previous year. The amount of energy wood harvested totalled 6,8 million cubic metres. Commercial fellings do not include all wood harvested from forests. Total removals, i.e. all removals of stemwood, includes commercial fellings, firewood for small houses and wood for forest owners' own use. The final annual statistics on Commercial fellings, as well as the statistics on Total removals and drain, will be published in April.
Preliminary data for 2025
- According to preliminary data, 60,1 million cubic metres of timber and pulpwood was harvested in 2025. Harvesting decreased by 2,0 million cubic metres, or tre percent, from the previous year.
- 79 percent of the harvested volume came from private forests, where a total of 47,6 million cubic metres of industrial roundwood was harvested. The volume was four percent lower than in the previous year.
- Harvesting in state-owned forests and the forests owned by forest industry companies decreased by one percent, totalling 12,4 million cubic metres.
- The amount of timber harvested was 26,8 million cubic metres, and the amount of pulpwood harvested was 33,3 million cubic metres.
- According to preliminary data, 6,8 million cubic metres of energywood was harvested, which was seven percent less than in the previous year. Of the harvested energywood, 52 percent consisted of delimbed stems and whole trees.
Background information on the statistics
Preliminary data on commercial fellings are based on monthly reports from around 25 companies. The final statistics is compiled using data from over 120 companies.
Commercial fellings includes the volumes of industrial roundwood and energywood harvested for industrial use or export. Total removals, i.e. all removals of stemwood, includes commercial fellings, firewood for small houses and wood for forest owners' own use.
