The volume of industrial roundwood removals (6.6 million m³) in January was higher than usual. It was 0.9 million cubic metres higher than in January of the previous year. The removals was also 16 percent higher than the average for the previous five Januarys. 

  • Sawlog removals amounted to 2.8 million cubic metres, and pulpwood removals to 3.8 million cubic metres.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests amounted to 5.4 million cubic metres, which was 14% more than the previous year.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests amounted to 1.2 million cubic metres, which was 26% more than in the previous year.
  • Energywood removals totaled 658,000 cubic metres, significantly more than in previous years' Januaries. 66% of this amount consisted of delimbed stems and whole trees.
