The production of grain totalled 3.6 billion kilos in 2011 and grain consumption during the crop year 2011–2012 amounted to 3.2 billion kilos.
More than two-thirds of Finland’s grain consumption is used to feed livestock.
During the harvest year, the following amounts of grain were used as food: 255 million kilos of wheat, 92 million kilos of rye, 65 million kilos of oats and 6 million kilos of barley.
During the crop year, 250 million kilos of wheat and 14 million kilos of rye were exported.
On 30 June 2012, grain stocks were 54 million kilos higher than a year before.
