Published 1.3.2016

The last quarter of 2015:

  • More than half of the energywood purchased as raw material for forest chips was pruned stemwood. This was the most valuable type of energywood; the average price paid for it was EUR 3.6 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 23.4 in delivery sales. These prices do not include government subsidy.
  • In standing sales the price of pruned stems was up by 27 per cent compared to the previous quarter. In delivery sales, the unit price remained the same.
  • Logging residues accounted for over one third of energywood sales. The average price paid for it was EUR 3.5 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 15.1 in delivery sales.

  • In standing sales the price of logging residues was EUR 3.4 (+5 %) and the price of stumps was EUR 1.0 (–18 %) per cubic metre.
  • There was a considerable regional variation in the price of energywood assortments. The data are presented in database and in figures by price region.
  • Data collection of statistic was enlarged in year 2015. Excluding that, the amount of energywood purchased in standing sales was one fourth lower and that in delivery sales 4 per cent larger than one year earlier.

The recorded prices may also be negative as they do not include government subsidy, which was received by a considerable portion of pruned and unpruned stems.
