Background information on the statistics
Unit prices in the roundwood trade are recorded at current prices, but price changes are examined in real terms in the text and figures (Cost-of-Living Index (1951:10=100)). In the first quarter of 2026, the annual increase in consumer prices was 0.6%.
The recorded prices are based on wood trade contracts between buyers and sellers of wood. The prices do not include possible additional services related to timber trade. Prices are recorded without government subsidies.
The data are not expanded to represent all energy wood trade in private forests. In 2022–2024, the recorded volumes represented on average about 65% of the energy wood purchased from private forests. The coverage of the statistical data varies slightly between different time periods.
