Trade of energywood, 1st quarter 2017

  • Two fifths of the wood purchased as raw material for forest chips was pruned stemwood in the first quarter of 2017. This was the most valuable type of energywood; the average price paid for it was EUR 5.6 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 23.5 in delivery sales.
  • In standing sales the unit price of pruned stems increased by 22 per cent and in delivery sales by 5 per cent compared to the previous quarter.
  • Share of logging residues was two fifths of energywood sales. The average price paid for it was EUR 3.3 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 14.5 in delivery sales.
  • In standing sales the price of logging residues were down by 7 per cent and in delivery sales by 3 per cent compared to the previous quarter.
  • The extent of data collection of statistic fluctuates. Excluding that, the amount of energywood purchased in standing sales increased by one fifth and in delivery sales by one third compared with the corresponding period of last year.

 The recorded prices do not include government subsidy and the prices may also be negative. Subsidy payments have been rejected 7.5.2016–19.4.2017, but were received until that by a considerable portion of pruned and unpruned stems.
