Utilised Agricultural Area 2012, preliminary data

The figures for cultivated area in 2012 are still preliminary as of 31 May 2012. The next time the area figures will be specified is on 28 June 2011. The situation as of 31 May 2012:

  •      With regard to the use of Finland’s cultivated area of 2.3 million hectares, the largest changes in 2012 were:  increase in the cultivation area of grains (+66,000 hectares) and decrease in the turnip rape area (- 25,000 hectares)
  •     The cultivation area of grains, 1,170,000 hectares, has increased by 6% compared to 2011.
  •     The barley area, 505,000 hectares, is 9% larger than in 2011.
  •     The turnip rape area, 52,000 hectares, is approximately one-third smaller than in 2011.
  •     The reed canary grass area, 11,000 hectares, is approximately 30% smaller than in 2011.
