Utilised Agricultural Area 2011, regional preliminary data

Tike's advance estimate of utilised agricultural area is based on information on subsidy application forms submitted by farmers by 29 April 2011.  The results represent the situation on 20 June 2011, at which time approximately 99% of the data on cultivated parcels had been recorded.

The arable land areas for 2011 are advance information on 21 June 2011:

  • Finland’s 2.3 million hectare arable land area’s major changes in 2011 are transition from turnip rape (-64,000 ha) and fallow (-31,000 ha) to grain (+ 94,000 ha). 
  • Grain cultivation area, 1,106,000 hectares, partly recovered from the drop in 2010.
  • Barley area, 466,000 hectares, will grow slightly (+ 4%) from 2010.
  • Turnip rape area, 78,000 hectares, recover to the level 2009. Last year turnip rape reached an all-time record of 142,000 hectares.
  • Broad bean remains in 10,000 hectares.
