Utilised Agricultural Area 2011, preliminary data

The arable land areas for 2011 are advance information on 31 May 2011:

  • Finland’s 2.3 million hectare arable land area’s major changes in 2011 are transition from turnip rape (-63,000 ha) and fallow (-35,000 ha) to grain (+ 99,000 ha). 
  • Grain cultivation area, 1,111,000 hectares, partly recovered from the drop in 2010.
  • Barley area, 469,000 hectares, will grow slightly (+ 5 %) from 2010.
  • Turnip rape area, 79,000 hectares, recover to the level 2009. Last year turnip rape reached an all-time record of 142,000 hectares.
  • Broad bean remains in 10,000 hectares.
