Use of Crops on Farms 2018–2019 (provisional) and 2017-2018 (final statistics)

  • The 2018 cereal harvest totalled 2.7 million tons.
  • More than half of the cereal harvest was sold to the market during the crop year, with barley having the highest volume of more than 655,000 tons.
  • Most of the cereals remaining at farms, i.e. 1.1 million tons, was used as feed, with barley having the highest volume of approximately 665,000 tons.
  • Some 250,000 tons of cereals were used for sowing during autumn 2017 and spring 2018.
  • Roughly one eighth of the 2018 harvest was in stocks at farms at the beginning of the next crop year on 1 July 2019.

Use statistics of the harvest at farms over the crop year 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2019 are estimates and will be specified in September 2020.
