Use of Crops on Farms 2017–2018 (provisional) and 2016-2017 (final statistics)

  • The 2017 cereal harvest totalled 3.4 million tons.
  • More than half of the cereal harvest was sold to the market during the crop year, with barley having the highest volume of more than 663,000 tons.
  • Most of the cereals remaining at farms, i.e. 1.3 million tons, was used as feed, with barley having the highest volume of approximately 705,000 tons.
  • Some 250,000 tons of cereals were used for sowing during autumn 2017 and spring 2018.
  • Roughly one fifth of the 2017 harvest was in stocks at farms at the beginning of the next crop year on 1 July 2018.

Use statistics of the harvest at farms over the crop year 1 July 2017 – 30 June 2018 are estimates and will be specified in September 2019.
