Use of Crops on Farms 2016 – 2017 (provisional) and 2015-2016 (final statistics)

  • The 2016 cereal harvest totalled 3.5 million tons.
  • More than half of the cereal harvest was sold to the market during the crop year, with barley having the highest volume of more than 730,000 tons.
  • Most of the cereals remaining at farms, i.e. 1.3 million tons, was used as feed, with barley having the highest volume of approximately 700,000 tons.
  • Some 250,000 tons of cereals were used for sowing during autumn 2016 and spring 2017.
  • Roughly one fourth of the 2016 harvest was in stocks at farms at the beginning of the next crop year on 1 July 2017.

Use statistics of the harvest at farms over the crop year 1 July 2016 – 30 June 2017 are estimates and will be specified in September 2018.
