Structure of agricultural and horticultural enterprises 2013 (provisional)

• The compilation of farm statistics has been renewed.  The new Agricultural and Horticultural Enterprise Regis-ter combines the Farm Register and Horticultural Enterprise Register.
• For the first time, the results now include both farms and horticultural enterprises.
• As part of the renewal, other changes were also made to the statistics:

      - the lower threshold in the register is the farm’s economic output of EUR 2,000
      - production sector data is now based on calculation
      - statistics for land use were adjusted

• There were 54,482 agricultural and horticultural enterprises in Finland in 2013. The number of farms decreased by 1,400 from 2012.
• The average utilized agricultural area of the farms was 41,5 hectares.
• Due to the new threshold, 4,200 of the smallest farms have been removed from the register.
