Producer prices for fish 2019

  • The price of Baltic herring for human consumption (EUR 0.32 per kg) continued to increase from the previous year,  while the price of Baltic herring for industrial uses (EUR 0.17 per kg) was slightly lower than in 2018 (EUR 0.18 per kg).
  • The price of gutted salmon (EUR 6.07 per kg) remained close to the previous year’s average price (EUR 6.08 per kg).
  • The prices of pike and burbot increased from the previous year, while the price of pikeperch (EUR 6.07 per kg) decreased from the year before. Furthermore, the price of perch (EUR 2.38 per kg) remained unchanged from 2018.
  • Finally, the price of farmed rainbow trout (EUR 4.50 per kg) fell from the previous year (EUR 5.15 per kg), while that of farmed European whitefish (EUR 10.66 per kg) increased slightly, being the highest ever in the 2000s.
  • Information about fish producer prices is collected from enterprises that purchase fish from fishermen. The Finnish Fish Farmers’ Association provides information about producer prices of farmed fish.
