Number of poultry 2024 (provisional)

At the beginning of April, there were around 14.7 million poultry on farms. Of this number, just over nine million were broilers and four million laying hens.

• There were four million laying hens at the beginning of April.  In total, there were just under 4.7 million places for hens on 225 farms. 
• There were just over 9 million broilers and about 13.2 million places on 175 farms.  
• There were 561 000 broilerhens and about 733 000 places on 30 farms. 
• Turkeys were reared on 33 farms with around 387 000 places. At the beginning of April there were about 300 000 turkeys on farms.
