Number of poultry 2022 (provisional)

  • On 1 April 2022, there were 14.4 million poultry birds on 470 farms.
  • In the beginning of April, the number of laying hens totalled 3.8 million. In total, there were 4.3 million places for chickens, which is the sum of the average number of chickens during production reported by farms. 
  • Approximately 260 farms had over 50 chickens. On average, slightly less than 16,000 chickens were on the farms.
  • In the beginning of April, the number of broilers was 9.1 million. In total, there were 12.8 million places for broilers on 184 farms, the majority of which are reared in Southern Ostrobothnia (4.5 million), in the Region of Satakunta (4.1 million), and in Southwest Finland (2.7 million).
  • In the beginning of April, there were 600,000 broiler hens.  Overall, there were 730.000 places for broiler hens.
  • In the beginning of April, the number of turkeys was approximately 263,000. Turkeys are reared on 37 farms, and the number of turkeys totals 360,000. A majority of farms are located in Southern Ostrobothnia and Southwest Finland.

 

In 2022, the data collection mainly covered those farms that had 50 or more birds in 2021.
