Number of livestock in spring of 2018 (provisional)

• The number of cattle at start of May 2018 was 882,000, which is one percent less than a year ago.
• The number of dairy cow was 271,400. The number of dairy cows decreased by one percent during a year.
• The number of pigs went down from the previous year to about 1.09 million pigs.
• The poultry included altogether 13.1 million animals on 1,000 farms. There were 3.7 million laying hens and 8.1 million broilers.
• There were about 155.000 sheep on 1,300 farms.
