Number of livestock in spring of 2018

- The number of cattle at start of May 2018 was 882,000, which is one percent less than a year ago.
- The number of dairy cow was 271,400. The number of dairy cows decreased by one percent during a year.
- The number of pigs went down from the previous year to about 1.1 million pigs.
- The poultry included altogether 14.1 million animals on 1,200 farms. There were four million laying hens and 8.8 million broilers.
- There were about 155.000 sheep on 1,400 farms.
