Number of livestock in spring of 2017

- The number of cattle at start of May 2017 was 893,000, which is two percent less than a year ago.
- The number of dairy cow was 275,000. The number of dairy cows decreased by three percent during a year.
- The number of pigs went down from the previous year to about 1.14 million pigs.
- The poultry included altogether 13.1 million animals on 1,280 farms. There were 3.7 million laying hens and 8 million broilers.
- There were about 156.000 sheep on 1,400 farms.
